Cornice and shafts, 17th c., Lisboa

2020 Conservation and Restoration

Conservation and restoration of 3 pieces* (17th c.) made of stone: one “cornice”, broken in 7 parts; one octagonal “shaft”, broken in 2 parts; and one cylindrical “shaft”, broken in 3 parts. Work done by Pedro Lino, sculptur and stone conservator technician.

* These pieces were selected for an exhibition, to be done on a timely date, about the Hospital Real de Todos os Santos (Royal Hospital of All Saints), an hospital built between 1492 and 1504, which was the most important of Lisboa - Portugal - during 16, 17 and 18 centuries. As it did not resist the 1755 Earthquake, which destroyed the historical centre of Lisboa, its services were transferred to the current Hospital de São José.
