Chapiters & Gargoyle, 19th c., Estoril, Lisboa

2011 Replicas and Reproductions

When the treatment of Forte da Cruz* was being applied, integrated into its plan of rehabilitation, including stone replacements, conservation and restoration of building's stone elements (porch, windows and doors), certain decorative elements from four chapiters and one gargoyle were reproduced. Work done by Pedro Lino, stone conservator and stone sculptor.

* The Forte da Cruz (Fort of the Cross) was built by the endings of the 19th century, over the ruins of the ancient Fort of St. António da Cruz, near the Tamariz beach at Estoril (Cascais), following the style of medieval inspiration developed by the Italian architect Cesare Ianz. It is classified as a Monument of Public Interest (2023).
