Roman City of Ammaia

2004 Creation

Design and production of a contemporary jewellery collection, called City of Ammaia, inspired by the decorative elements of some artefacts exhumed in archaeological excavations in the ancient Roman City of Ammaia*, located in the Natural Park of St. Mamede, St. Salvador Aramenha, Marvão (Alentejo).

* The city should have been founded by the end of the 1st c. BC, exactly with the beginning of the Roman Empire, probably between the reign of Augustus [30th c. BC-14th c. AC] and the reign of Claudius I [41-54], and reached its peak from the middle of the 2n AC till the end of the 4th c. beginnings of the 5th c., when it should have begun its decline and degradation processes.
