Abstract
The identification and characterisation of the metal alloys by X-ray fluorescence of the Codeçais torques, Iron Age (between the 5th and 4th centuries BC), and the Rendufe torques, belonging respectively to the National Museum of Archaeology and the Vila Velha Museum of Vila Real, which are typologically very similar, allowed inferences to be made about the manufacturing techniques and the different gold alloys used to construct this type of jewellery. The comparison of the results obtained for the Codeçais torques with published studies on the torques from the Chaves region, also belonging to the collection of the National Museum of Archaeology, clarified some questions regarding these examples of torques.
