^{Abstract
The corrosion observed on the surface of archaic jewellery displayed in the "Treasures of Portuguese Archaeology" exhibition at the National Museum of Archaeology, known as the Treasure Room, led to a characterization of the objects' state of conservation and the exposure conditions, considering temperature, relative humidity (RH), light, pollutants, and identifying the construction materials, in an attempt to relate the exposure conditions to the development of corrosion. It was observed that the corrosion phenomena of gold alloys are mainly due to exposure in an environment with high RH values ??and concentrations of sulfur compounds.}
