Plaque in Bronze, 15th c., Guimarães

2000 Replicas and Reproductions

A replica in bronze with chemical patina and the royal weapons in low relief and the inscription "1380" was produced to be placed at Padrão do Salado*, in the historic centre of Guimarães, World Heritage by UNESCO [2001], precisely the same location where the original bronze plaque was, currently in the custody of Alberto Sampaio Museum.

* The Padrão do Salado is a monument built by King Afonso IV, The Brave [14th c.], to commemorate the victory of his forces (Christian and Portuguese) on the Muslim forces at the Battle of Salado, in the surroundings of Cadiz, helping his son, King of Castile, Alfonso XI.
