Participation in the 22nd General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) from November 7 to 13, 2010 in Shanghai, China, at the invitation of the Lisbon Convention Bureau of the Lisbon Tourism Association, within the scope of the preparation and promotion of the 16th Triennial Conference of the International Council of Museums - Committee for Conservation (ICOM-CC), the following year, in Lisbon.
The theme of the conference was "Museums for Social Harmony", considering that 21st-century museums are at the crossroads of major transformations in the global economy and environment, in a position to meet the urgent need to safeguard cultural diversity and biodiversity as a common heritage to humanity, playing a role as mediators in these transformations, promoting social harmony. This conference brought together a group of experts from diverse backgrounds to encourage new models of collaboration that offer opportunities for ICOM members to contribute to the development of museums, addressing the diverse types of heritage: tangible, intangible, movable, immovable, cultural and natural.
