The head is drawn, chiselled, and probably crafted from a single sheet of copper.
The reverse side of the headrest is partially chiselled into the backrest area with the cushion.

Each plaque has its own decoration, featuring a tree flanked by various fantastical figures whose inspiration may be found in medieval bestiaries.
