ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY, Blacksmith Faria Workshop, Rio Frio

Execution of one environmental monitoring study inside the previous visitable reserve Blacksmith Faria Workshop*, installed at the Homestead of Rio Frio, Palmela (Setúbal), inoperative since 2007, was justified for the upcoming artefacts treatment in conservation and restoration in a stable environment and appropriate conditions for this kind of objects.

* The Blacksmith's Shop Faria is a collection composed of instruments and tools from the expert Master Faria, given by his heirs to the County Museum of Palmela (1998), for study, preservation and dissemination. This collection allow us to get to know a traditional and antique craft, but already disappeared nowadays. António Teixeira de Faria (1878-1972) was born in Olhos d'Água and inherited from his father, José Teixeira de Faria, the main occupation as blacksmith home-grown, because it was already a tradition within his family.
