Necklace and collar, Iron Age, Baião

2019 Replicas and Reproductions

Execution of gilded silver replicas of two gold objects founded in the region of Baião (Porto), from the Goldsmith Archaic Collection of the Portuguese National Museum of Archaeology:

  • one necklace (Au302-363; Au382-396), with 75 elements like beads and drop earrings, in laminated, relieved and welded gold (6-4cs. B.C.);
  • one collar (Au364-369), consisting of six rectangular or trapezoidal modules of twisted wire mesh, in laminated, hammered, relieved (embedded?) and welded gold (7-6cs. B.C.),
