The Memory of Islam
Contemporary Jewellery
This collection, named The Memory of Islam, comprises silver pieces that highlight Islam’s symbolic richness, mainly its intricate geometrical shapes, calligraphy samples taken from funerary gravestones, and the animal paintings displayed on ceramic objects exhumed in the fortress of Mertola’s Castle, from the Collection of Mértola's Museum. Later other artefacts were designed inspired by the decorative ceramic technique corda seca, in pieces from Persia, Timurid period [15th century], belonging to the collection of the Calouste Gulbenkian's Museum.
